KoMotion Fellowship

The KoMotion Fellowship at Circus Lab is a lineage-based advanced training program dedicated to the transmission of corporeal mime, modern dance, choreography, and physical theater. Under the artistic direction of Rich Kuperberg and Ann Morris, the fellowship emphasizes rigorous technical practice, embodied pedagogy, and the responsible passing on of a movement vocabulary developed over more than thirty years of collaboration. Rooted in their direct training with Étienne Decroux and informed by modern dance traditions, the program bridges fine art movement practices with educational contexts from K–12 through higher education. During the inaugural Circus Lab session (April 11–17), an initial cohort of Fellows will work closely with Morris and Kuperberg to document their methodology, develop curriculum frameworks, and research the historical and conceptual foundations of their work. Fellows will carry this knowledge back to schools, universities, and academies, helping define and expand the KoMotion Fellowship for future generations.
